The challenge

What was going wrong

The store spent steadily on search and social ads. Reports showed plenty of clicks, but the sales shown in the ad platforms did not match the orders in the shop. The team could not tell which campaigns were actually earning.

Shoppers also seemed to drop out late. Nobody knew whether the cause was shipping costs, a clumsy mobile checkout or slow pages. Without trustworthy data, every change was a guess, and each guess cost real ad money.

Our approach

How we worked it out

  1. 1

    Audit the tracking

We checked every tag and event against real orders. We found double counted sales and missing steps, and wrote down what the data should say.

  2. 2

    Build one clear report

We joined ad, site and order data in a single report. The team could finally see cost and revenue by campaign, product group and device.

  3. 3

    Test the weak steps

We watched session recordings and ran small page tests on product pages and checkout. Each test had one change and a clear question to answer.

  4. 4

    Shift budget and keep testing

We moved spend toward campaigns that led to orders and paused the rest. Tests continue in a steady rhythm, with results shared in plain language.

What we built

The solution

  • Cleaned-up tracking setup

Tags and events now match what actually happens in the shop.

  • Campaign-to-order report

One view of spend and revenue by campaign, product group and device.

  • Checkout and product page tests

Small, planned changes to the pages where shoppers hesitate.

  • Budget review routine

A regular check that moves spend toward what earns.

What changed

The results

  • Numbers the team can trust

Ad reports now agree with the orders in the shop, so decisions rest on facts.

  • Smoother mobile checkout

Fixes to the mobile checkout steps removed friction that shoppers had been hitting.

  • Budget moved to what works

Spend shifted from campaigns that only brought clicks to those that brought orders.

Technology

What it was built with

  • Google Analytics Shows how visitors find and use your website and apps.
  • Google Tag Manager Manages tracking tags without changing website code.
  • Google Ads Runs search, shopping and video ads and tracks what each click returns.
  • Meta Ads Runs paid campaigns on Facebook and Instagram with audience targeting.
  • Hotjar Heatmaps and recordings that show how people use your pages.
